The September Issue...

So I finally saw The September Issue. For those of you living under rocks of some sort, this was the documentary film about the making of Vogue's imfamous Spetmeber 2007 issue. Once I saw the movie I remembered the disapointing cover with a red lipped Sienna Miller. The movie chronciles and follows around the top people at Vogue including Anna Wintour (editor in cheif, diva, bitch?, etc.), Virginia, the ever so flamboyant Andre, and my personal favorite former model and head stylist, Grace. The movie was not super suspenseful or drmamatic for those not interested in fashion, photography, the industry, etc. However, the film was very nteresting to me because I hope to someday work for a fashion magazine; not American Vogue though, because, like Grace, I feel that their editoreals lack a lot of artisitc creativity and diversity. Anyway, pretty nteresting and totally worth the ten bucks!

V...delicious

Lady Gag-me?

Okay, as much as I despise Lady Gaga's wanna be pop electro music and overwhelmingly dramatic style...the cover girl of this month's V magazine (my favorite) looked stunning in the spread. The spread was beautiful and almost seemed Madonna inspired? Very erotic and over the top as I would expect but also, very high fashion and sexy as well. Hmm...

Also in this issue, Mario Sorrenti kills it with models freja beha and sasha pivovorova in Live From New York. The angles he used in this editorial were superb and displayed the architecture and design of the shoes and clothes beautifully.

IN the culture section, they interview street artist Richard Hamblton and chronicle his artistic and personal life. Very interesting article and very politically aesthetic work.

will summer now end?

So, I wrote about Anna Sui's new line for Target a couple weeks ago...
here are some photos from the Anna Sui for Target Party in NYC.
Look, it's nothing against Blake Lively personally, but I just don't think she has any sense of style...at least enough to inspire a clothing collection....don't sell out Ms. Sui!!!

Up top is the dress that I really want from the collection (inspired by Blair of gossip girls) as worn by Emma Stone. The dress is pretty cute and she looks great

I "NEED"

OKay.
So lately I have been a bit strapped from cash so I figured that since I cannot physically buy these items...perhaps posting photos of them and incessantly looking at them each day will satisfy my urge to have them? I don't know what I am going to do really...
1. Sexy Cream Lace up booties from Urban
2. 4 way stretch skinny pants from American Apparel (I want them in ash blue :) )
3. GORGEOUS brown floppy hat from American Apparel....LOVE!!!

feeling fall...

I'm going to do some NYC fashion week reviews soon but, I just had to post this poem that I read yesterday. It's very simple but somehow I relate and connect with it so much...so beautiful!

The Flower by Robert Creely

I think i grow tensions
like flowers
in a wood where
nobody goes

Every wound is perfect,
encloses itself in a tiny
imperceptible blossom,
making pain.

Pain is a flower like that one,
like this one,
like this one,
like this one.

frugalista?

Well Target has now stooped low enough to use this term in, I assume, efforts to attract recession conscious shoppers to buy their overpriced clothing.
The new Anna Sui for Target line isn't half bad. There are some great, flirty dresses with her signiture ethnic, hippie prints and some a lot of lace. I have to say this is one of my favorites of the designer collections but again, it is diffuclt for my frugalista self to spend $50 on a dress from traget....

The collection is also apparently inspired by Gossip Girl...each of the looks above are supposed to emulate the tv character's style. Sound a little infantile? I think so. But hey, I can't completely bash the concept as I am running to the closest target September 13 to get Blair's look (the 1st dress)!

Fall rtw Runway Report...

So overall the fall rtw collections surprised me if anything. Designers that I usually hate had me falling in love and designers that I love had me falling into hate!
Louis Vuitton, for example, usually not my favorite label, but Marc Jacob's collection was so sexy yet so edgy. Lots of lace, leather, and girlie, feminine pieces with some rough or masculine touches. Incredible!!
But let me just say Alexander Wang...I love you but, this collection was not your best. Kind of dull, basic, and too much masculinity and grunge.
Chloe kept things pretty typical and consistant with the label's style, using mostly a neutral, creamy color pallette and showing lots of huge coats and safari like shorts.
My award however, goes to Chritophe Decarnin for Balmain. Keeping consistant with the sexy, sculptured mini dresses and defined shoulders, he encorporated beautiful jewel toned colors, sequins, perfectly tailored dress pants and styled them with the ever current grungy militray boots. Genius!!
