BRIGHT STARS

Rosario Dawson, in J. Mendel

Mila Kunis, in Alexander McQueen

Jennifer Lawrence, in Oscar de la Renta

Hailee Steinfeld, in Prada

A Predictable Ceremony, but Unexpected Dresses at the SAG Awards. The red carpet at the 17th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards looked a lot like the Spring runways. There were plenty of bright prints and even more electric color.

How Ladylike are You?

I believe in manicures. I believe in overdressing. I believe in primping at leisure and wearing lipstick. I believe that loving is the best calorie burner. I believe in French kissing. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles.

Audrey Hepburn

Answer the below questions for fun and see how ladylike you are:

1. Have you ever cleaned your nose without using a tissue?

2. Have you ever passed gas in front of your mate without excusing yourself to the bathroom?

3. While doing laundry you find a pair of skid-marked undies belonging to your partner. What do you do?

A. Put them in the wash without ever mentioning a word to avoid embarrassing him
B. Wave the undies in his face and say "It doesn't take that much time to wipe properly!"
C. Take close up photos of the skids and post the pics to Facebook?

3. You are sitting patiently waiting at your doctors office in the waiting room, how do you sit?

A. Up straight with your legs crossed and your arms gently folded in your lap
B. With your legs slightly apart and slouching in the chair
C. Slouched over with your legs wide apart enough for everyone to see your bikini line

4. Your partner decided to take you out for V day to a posh restaurant what kind of table manners do you display?

A. Elbows on the table and reaching across to taste his food

B. Burping outloud after taking your drink to the head

C. Placing your napkin in your lap and gently resting your wrists on the table while looking over the wine menu

Grace, Style, Elegance

Don't you just love the elegance captured in these photos? They are from the book The Last Sitting Marilyn Monroe by photographer Bert Stern.  The photo shoot was commissioned by Vogue magazine in late June 1962, taking place over three daily sessions, just six weeks before she died...

Keepsake

Do kids still do this? I remember back in elementary bringing V day cards to school for your classmates. Awwww don't you miss being a kid? I do ;0)
When I first met my fiance' Jason I was in a relationship going no where fast so when he asked if I was single I regretfully had to say NO ;0( BUT I hurried up and made myself single shortly thereafter LOL ;0)

After entering into singlehood with intent on snatching him up I weighed my options by watching him at the gym whilst on the treadmill lol he was some good eye candy too. So finally enough with the games, I dragged my friend William with me to the gym for emotional support and once given the push I grabbed a pink memo paper from the front desk and wrote my name, number and a ;0) with the words call me and gave it to him as he was about to leave. My heart was pounding in my chest as I approached him lol At first I wasn't going to do it because I felt like the balance was off with me (a woman) having to now approach him ( a man) but I said what the heck, go for it and I'm happy that I did ;0)

LOL Recently Jason embarrassed me by bringing out my little 'Do you like me?" note for show and tell at our game night and all the girls laughed lol I guess he will be keeping that keepsake in his little treasure box for eternity, although I am just as corny. I have the napkin from the restaurant that I wiped my tears on the day he proposed ;0) Awwwww

So in case you want to do this as well or you have a little crumb snatcher with the hots for someone in class buy the above pictured cards here.

Do you keep keepsakes too?

Dancer's Legs

This weekend's hike was a success, three gals and myself trekked up Kennesaw Mountain whilst stopping to take it all in. The girls were troopers and one, Lillian, even ran down with me which I was too thrilled about. They even want to continue hiking ;0) I want to conquer Stone Mountain this spring as well since I have yet to climb that one. I love the exercise high you get after a good work out and even moreso than that is the results. I tend to work out my legs more often than my other body parts as they have always been my strongest parts. I am working on building up my core strength this year though. I ran track and danced all through high school and I thought I'd always have dancers/runners legs with no effort but old age is proving me otherwise lol I suppose I will always have to be an active adult in order to maintain my health. Today is the first true start of my veggie and fruit only diet although I am attending a birthday dinner tonight at Dolce, hopefully I can get something healthy and raw to eat. Thinking sushi ;0)

Happy Monday lovelies!

Return of the Gentlemen

Ladies I don't know about you but I love a good shoe! I also take notice of men's shoes as well. They don't have to be as well dressed as me though but a well made shoe makes all the difference ;0)  I saw these two from an email I received from www.endless.com by Cole Haan for men. Classic! I wore navy blue oxfords from 1st through 8th grade so I have a great affinity for these shoes. The androgynous style of fashion is also one of my many loves.

somewhere

*** If you liked Lost in Tranlation, you will love Somewhere. I was a little horrified at its initial, seeminngly un-necessary use pornographic visuals and kind of overly sexually exploitative subject matter. However, mid-movie, it became clear that the sexuality was kind of an intentional means of displaying modern culture and lifestyle in which the main character was living. It was truly a touching movie and it epitomized the reasons that I love her movies. The use and experimentation with motion and time and portrayals of such entities was beautifully rendered in the same way that I feel Lost in Translation is.

Blusher

Confession I have a great fear of walking down the aisle. For starters, I want to do it alone no hand holding by either my father or mother, for personal reasons. Secondly I know for sure that I will start tearing up and for all the countless hours I've spent perfecting my makeup skills lol I'd hate to have it all be washed off by tears rolling down my face smh Thirdly I am shy when it comes to matters like this. Just the thought of the music playing and everyone turning to see the lovely bride as the groom stands alone with the officiant at the altar is nerve racking to me. I'm sure I will pull it together by August but for now I'm scared lol Only 187 days to go!!! I'm going to need a really BIG blusher to give me some comfort ;0)

Get in the Zone

Yesterday while at a birthday party, a friend disclosed she did a 7 day detox eating just fruits and raw veggies excluding the following: no soda, no legumes, no sugar, no bread and ONLY juiced fresh fruits and drank water. She boasted that she felt livelier, more energetic and had a glowing complexion and I concur her skin looked great! I decided to do my own detox, I've done one in the past while on one of those 14 day diets whose name I can't recall right now. I do however remember how much water weight and dullness left my skin and body after the initial fruits and veggies only detox period. Right now I'm down to 135 but I still have a handful or two of fluffiness to get off before my wedding dress arrives in June.

This is me when I first started my go hard or go home fitness regimen in 09. I weighed 155 lbs in this picture ;-0 No bueno

This is me the following summer in Mexico around about 140lbs or so I gained more muscle and got toned from hiking.

This is me now at 135lbs and subtracting. I think if I lose my stomach completely that will take me down another 5-7 lbs and then I'd be completely blissful.
