Food, Inc

My honey and I watched Food, Inc. the other day after viewing Oprah's show on the documentary. The Food industry is a VERY powerful vehicle with strong political ties, after all it is how you choose to fuel your body everyday --- three times a day. This also means that you and your family gets to vote THREE times a day on what you wish to eat, how healthy your food is and how much you are willing to spend on it.

We often hear talks about obesity, childhood obesity and health ailments directly related to food but WHAT is in the food that is making these people fat and sick by the 100's of thousands? Steroids & Chemical processing that's what. How else do you explain farmers being able to mass produce cattle, chicken, fish, wheat and milk for the overly abundant population now on Earth. Farmers have been feeding unnatural foods like corn to cattle who are meant to eat grass? Grass is free right but corn costs money to transport and distribute; however it also makes cattle more plump which means more meat for sale. When they do this not only are they messing with nature's cycle they are also causing internal health issues in the animals, which then get passed onto you as a consumer. This is why people are dying from eating hamburgers and are being sued, like Oprah, for speaking against 'Mad Cow' disease. Farmers are also being sued for saving seeds for next years harvest as one Monopolizing company has a patent on seed. smh Only our Congress would make it a law to 'own' your food.

With this being said, I'm not saying you ought to convert to being a vegan but you should take the time to read the ingredients and learn about where your food is growing and how it is being cultivated before you scan it at the register. Grassfed beef is better for you because cows are supposed to eat GRASS, however since the majority of them are being fed corn now you and I have to pay bit more at the register. This country is so damn backwards I swear! It should in no way, shape or form cost more to be healthy but think about it like this either pay a little more for your food now or pay more for your healthcare later......

Have you seen the documentary? If so what are your take away thoughts on the subject?
