You had me at Hello!

With the Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's holidays right around the bend I am sure many of you lovelies are stepping out either to a black tie or simple formal event at someone's home. In case you wanted to go with a 'Doll Face' here are a few tips from my makeup arsenal.

1. Dress up your lips this holiday season with a rich color like plum or berry. I personally wear the color Cleopatra Red no. 5064 by Black Radiance, it's bold but has a cool elegance you won't get from something fire engine red. You can find this at your local CVS or Wal-mart. Also prior to applying your lipstick you should exfoliate (brown sugar, oil of your choice and honey mix and scrub with your washcloth then lick off the excess yum!) and then moisturize with something as simple as a neutral chap stick or lip balm. Let this set then line your lips with a pencil even brighter than your lipstick shade, this will make your lips really pop ;0)

2. A matte finish look is more polished than the high shine or dewy look. To achieve this first apply your moisturizer and allow ample time for it to oxidize on your skin, this will allow for less oil blotting. Next you may want to apply an Anti-shine primer to help block any perspiration that may occur during your night on the town. I use one by Smash box which can be purchased here  for about 27 USD.

3. A strong lip color brings out the natural blush in your cheeks so go easy on the blush if you choose a strong lip color. I would also go easy on any bold eyeshadow combination's unless you want the All Out Glam look, if so go for it. If not you may want to do a sexy smokey eye to compliment your lips. For instructions on how to do a smokey eye watch my tutorial video How to do a Smokey Eye

4. Keep foundation sheer and light, and use it only where you need coverage. Anything too heavy will settle into lines as the night goes on and is more likely to end up transferred onto someone's cheeks and suit jacket if you're the kissing-and-hugging type.

5.  Last but not least dress for the occasion, nothing sets the perfect makeup more than an equally fabulous dress and pair of shoes! Here are some inspiration pictures for holiday attire. Enjoy!
