Hello I am in SILENCE
With the hustle and bustle of life, work, kids, family, phone calls, bills, friends, spouses and then little ole you things can seem a bit hectic. Thank God we are not alone. I've learned that prayer, meditation and just being in SILENCE can aid us in maintaining our sanity, otherwise I would have been in a looney bin years ago (not that I still don't need to go to on a field trip there lol)
The art of meditation has definitely been commercialized for sure over the years with the sale of yoga and pilates classes promising to help you find your Zen, Interior designers bringing feng shui into your home and travel advertisements selling couples retreats to Bora Bora but can't you get all this and more within yourself, where are are at this very moment? The answer is yes, if you can still your mind, sit in silence and listen......
Now this is alot harder to do than you think. Believe me I've tested the theory. Who knew I had so much decluttering of the mind to do. Geesh yet another daily task! But it is totally worth it. Give it a try. Start out choosing an area of your home that is clear of clutter where you can sit in an upright position on the floor ontop of a cushion. I choose to sit on my aerobic step as it is level and has cushion. Next choose a time of day where you won't be distracted by your loved ones. I think my time is now, early morning and yes it is most certainly 1 AM as I write. ;0) The house is still, my candle is burning and all I hear is nothingness. Ahhhh music to my ears. Traditionally one would sit in an Indian style position on the floor resting both wrists on each knee like the pictures below.
What is the purpose of all this silence? Read below for some of the benefits:
~ Improvement in concentration
~ Improvement in body luster and overall health
~ Clarity of the mind
~ Increased ability to focus
~ Purging of negativity and allowing positive energy to flow inwards
~ Leads to a deeper level of relaxation
~ Builds self confidence
~ Can be used anywhere
~ Reduces PMS, stress and overall tension
~ Reduces anxiety
So give meditation a try. Some may say prayer and meditation are one in the same. To me it is simply sitting in silence, stilling your mind and listening to your creator while allowing the universe to fill you with love ;0)
Have a great day ladies,
