♥ Puzzle Pieces

Your vision will become clear only when you look into your heart ... Who looks outside, dreams. Who looks inside, awakens. ~ Carl Jung

When it comes to matters of the heart, do you believe your parents would be able to choose the perfect piece to your heart's puzzle? I was thinking about this yesterday after having a conversation with my workmate about marriage. He is in an arranged marriage, set up by his parents back home, is 26 years old, has a 1 year old and has only been married for 2 years. Let's also keep in mind that he has NEVER dated because it is not a custom in his culture to do so. He did have a choice in marrying in his wife but he did not seek her out, that was done by his parents, as he states who would know  you better than the one's who gave birth to you and raised you to be the person you are today?

What do you think? I definitely disagree. Now while my mother and I are much closer in spirit and connection than I with my father, I still do not believe she 'knows' me as a person but moreso as a daughter because afterall I do not disclose things to her that I would say to a best girlfriend. I definitely have more mature conversations with her now that I am of age, living on my own and engaged to be married yet and still the boundary of mother daughter shall remain in tact if I have any say so. I do know, however, there are such parental-child relationships that involve a very intimate bond, in which this case perhaps the parents would be able to choose the perfect mate for their child, however in America where we mostly date as soon as we become of age is that still a sound argument? I'm not quite sure.

In any event, I believe as the quote stated above by Carl Jung, one should look within to seek the missing piece of their hearts puzzle. I believe this is why so many women, in particular, have a difficult time finding a partner because they don't know who they are so they can not possibly know what they are looking for in a mate. If you are in a rut while seeking a mate take the time out to self reflect, look within and find the missing piece to your puzzle.
