The New Modern Woman according to me....

The New Modern Woman according to me has a college degree. She attended a university or college with a gleam of hope in her heart inorder to pursue a meaningful career. This woman has also honed, learned and/or acquired self taught domestic skills along the way. She knows how to make a fabulous dish or two from scratch (wash, prep & cook), how to properly make a bed, how to thoroughly clean from the ceiling fans to the baseboards and beyond, how to make a house into a home, how to sew on a button or rehem a pair of trousers, how to iron and crease, how to bake a cookie or cake, how to launder whites, colors, delicates and linens, how to set a table, how to be a warming hostess, how to embrace her feminine side and know when to roll up her sleeves for the dirty work, how to put air in her tire or pump gas, how to use a screwdriver and the difference between a phillips and flat head, how to decorate for the holidays, how to compose a handwritten letter, how to balance her checking account, how to be frugal and knowing it's okay to splurge on some things, how to shop for groceries (buying in season and on sale), how to clip coupons, how to wrap a present, how to put on her 'face' and effectively take it off, how to make herself look pretty by her own standards, and last but not least how to be in tune with her emotions.
To me the New Modern Woman must also know how to prepare herself for marriage and motherhood and in that exact order if she sees fit. She also knows how to use her life's passion to generate a wealth of happiness and monetary reward as a stay-at-home mom too! Alot of modern day housewives put their passions to good use to not only nuture their souls but to also provide for their families. This Modern woman also knows how to be the ultimate optimist and feed her mind with positive thoughts, affirmations and self-improvement exercises. In preparation for marriage she knows how to get in touch with her feminine side and to act like a lady. She allows the man to court her and to be the MAN in every way. She knows to greet him when he comes home, to kiss him ever so softly, to give a reassuring womanly touch, to smell of sweet scents and dress as a lady should. She knows how to be a girlfriend, a lover, a wife and a mother. She knows how to comfort her children when they are sick, disappointed and upset. She knows how to teach her children the ropes before they go out into the world. She knows how to give love and more importantly how to receive love.
This New Modern Woman is me, she's who I strive to be.....
