Be a Doll, Give a Doll

Today I was invited to attend a soiree in honor of The Black Doll Affair by the founder of the Pretty Girls Rock Dresses, LLC organization.

All sizes, shades and ages of 18 years and older, from college students to mothers, career girls to ladies of leisure, TheBlack Dolls are b'huetiful philanthropic role models that band together to tackle the black families issues with shadeism, self-hatred and low self-esteem. For young girls and adult women that look like them, The Black Dolls are on a mission to remind that "Black IS B'huetiful!"  For toddlers, during their Black Doll Deliveries, The Black Dolls deliver their message of b'huety with the gift of a toy black doll. For teens, the Black Dolls hold Self-Esteem Tween Summits. For adult women, The Black Dolls host Conversations of Legacy.  For fun, the Black Dolls enjoy each other at social playdates. To express the importance of community involvement, The Black Dolls donate hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars to charitable causes that affect all races living in and around our communities.

I purchased a Black Pastry Barbie doll by the name of 'Trichelle' as my philanthropic contribution to the cause. I am so proud of Angela and Vanessa Simmons for teaming up with the Barbie company and putting their hip & innovative stamp of style on the brand. There were about 10 different Black dolls to choose from and to be honest I didn't even expect that many. Most of them were cute but I wanted to be sure to get one that was well dressed. Trichelle has a snazzy little dress covered in red lip prints and sports a curly natural looking up do. The hair is what sold me! ;0) Check me out with my doll below. Are you going to join us tomorrow?
