Attract- A- Mate Bedroom Series

In order to attract a mate most people make an effort to look their best, smell their best and act their best. In these current times of residential dating one should be sure to make your home’s presentation an equal extension of your style, taste and charm. After all, this is a part of your ‘first impression’. When you think of cultivating romance in the home, you think of the bedroom. This is usually the space where ‘the magic happens’ so why not make your bedroom’s décor a magical wonderland!

As an Interior Decorator, I love to incorporate soft and sensual materials when designing a romantically styled room. In order to achieve this look you should create a vision board of inspirational pictures from interior design magazines or stock photos found on the internet. Look for materials that say ‘sexy’, ‘sensual’ and ‘romantic’. The best sex and sleep comes from a bedroom that is welcoming, cozy and exotic. Some of the materials I recommend are faux fur throws, canopy, dim lighting, sheep skin rugs, sheer curtains, scented candles, flowers, chandeliers, high thread count Egyptian cotton sheets, mirrors, sensual artwork and of course color. The romance is in the details so don’t be afraid to mix and match colors and textures to achieve your desired results.

We’ve all heard again and again that men are visual creatures. You attract a mate with your physical presentation and keep him interested with a winning personality. When inviting a male into your home you want him to see that you are warm, clean, organized, sensual and the woman of his dreams. You should ignite his five senses with not only yourself but your home as well. Choose conversational pieces for your coffee table, display the interesting books you’ve read, hang up your artwork and share the tale of how you came to choose that particular piece, cook a delicious meal and let the aroma of scented candles or food fill the air, play an arrangement of music to showcase your diverse taste and last but not least have a plethora of topics on deck to discuss to keep the conversation going. You are sure to be a keeper with all this and your super sexy self! Remember reveal something, not everything ;0) I don't believe the bedroom is a place to entertain someone you are still 'interviewing' as a potential mate but that doesn't mean you have to wait until you meet that special someone to add spice to your bedroom. You too can enjoy a sexy, sensual and romantic atmosphere all by your lonesome.

Christmas Cheer

This is how my tree turned out for those of you who wanted to see. ;0)

Changing with the seasons ~ Fall to Winter Decorating Ideas

Do you change around your home decor with the seasons? I do! I like to rearrange my furniture so that I get a better view of the Christmas tree or bring in Fall colors for sofa pillows, throws and candles to switch things up a bit when the leaves start to change. You can also convert your bedroom, especially if you have a down comforter and use a duvet cover for versatility.  Also substituting your draperies for the holidays is also an inexpensive yet quick and effective way of changing around your room's design. Here are some Fall and Winter inspirational pictures. Check out some of my Interior Decorating at Chameleon Decor Interiors Enjoy!

Who doesn't love a Chandelier?

Today I was so excited to come home after work because my Black Chandelier finally arrived. When I started to redesign my Master bedroom I knew I would want to install a chandelier this time around. I previously had some dusty old ceiling fan that the former owner installed and I rarely ever used so that surely had to go. I ordered my lighting from Overstock because they have great deals, free or very inexpensive shipping and I've always been pleased with my purchases from them. During my install I ended up having to actually read the directions, can you believe it? lol I actually dislike reading directions when it comes to installing or constructing items. For some reason, I tend to think, "This can't be that hard," and then I end up doing the steps in the wrong order and eventually having to resort to reading lol uggh! It didn't take me that long to put the light together but taking the fan down was the hard part and I was too anxious to wait until Jason was home to help. I managed on my own pretty well though, I ended up putting the finishing touches on it as he walked into the room. I brought some light bulbs from the Dollar store and wha la, there was romantic lighting in the room to be enjoyed by all. I want to switch to a dimmer for that light as it seems a bit bright with the white paint but otherwise I'm quite pleased. I asked Jason to take some progress pictures for my before and after section on my website. I will post a link to the album as soon as he gets around to it.

Fabric on the Wall

I was thinking about wallpaper today for the upper half of one wall in my room and then it dawned on me that using fabric is less expensive especially if on clearance and more easily accessible meaning no waiting for it in the mail. I think I will go shop around for some grey fabric with white and a bit of black in it this weekend and tackle that project. I sure hope it comes out OK.

If you would like to do the same in your home I sourced some directions listed below:

You will need:

-A pair of good scissors and or an Exacto Knife

-A clean sponge or paint roller

-Fabric enough for your space with a few inches over

-Spray Starch Stiffener

Instructions to apply:

Wash the wall and remove any dirt or film.

Measure the wall to see how you will cut your fabric, be mindful if it has a pattern.

*Light weight fabrics are the easiest to apply*

Cut the fabric carefully.

Spray starch on the top half of the wall.

Smooth fabric into place with your sponge or paint roller.

Keep in place using a push pin until finished and leave about one inch of overlap until completely dry to be trimmed later.

Keep spraying starch and applying as before.

Repeat with next panel.

When the fabric is dry cut off the overlapping, this was done to allow for shrinkage during drying.

Instructions to remove:

Moisten fabric with a wet sponge

Peel the corner loose and keep peeling gently until removed.

Dampen as needed. Fabric should come off easily.

Now wash it off and hang to dry as you may use it in another craft project ;0)

The Girlies Room

My next project will be designing a bedroom for three little girls to share. They are a lively bunch, all with their own personalities and ideas on style & design. I am going to have fun doing this one too! I found a few inspirational pictures to get my mental juices flowing. I am liking the concept of yellow and orange together.

Moroccan Mastersuite

Well I finished my Moroccan Mastersuite this past weekend. Here are a few pictures of my work. I will post the majority on my website www.chameleondecorinteriors.com, which is currently under construction as I am changing a few things around.

Doesn't this sheepskin rug and pillow collection look comfy?

Color and artwork add a splash on the mantel.

Colorful candles.

Pull the net curtain closed for a bit of separation.

Pillow sitting room. Relax. Relate. Release

Covered these canvas frames in fabric to add artwork above the bed. A glue gun can change your world.

Hang square frames in a diamond shape for contrast and visual interest.

I love this lamp, I picked out some silk flowers to insert into the lamp to add a pop of color.

Dimmer for mood lighting

Changed out the black drawer pulls for more festive ones. A cheap way to spruce up your furniture.

Vintage oval frame that I put a Moroccan inspired fabric in to add interesting art to the wall.

Silky White and Grey Cashmere

Since designing my friends Mastersuite I've decided to finally tackle my own Masterbedroom. It was a house of mixed hodgepodge design projects with cozumel and green blue walls and half removed wallpaper from the previous owner. My honey and I decided to design a white and grey mature living space and today I started painting with the help of Behr, my all time favorite paint brand. I purchased a medium grey comforter set, which came with two sparkly grey pillows. ;0)  We used the white with black glamour pillows in my friends room. I selected the Silky White color from Behr after scouring through dozens of white-like paint choices. I'm thinking of incorporating some luxury wallpaper on the upper half of my chair rail and leaving the remaining walls solid. Here are some of my design inspirations for my own suite.

Mind on Morocco

Last night while painting we decided to change the theme to a more Moroccan inspired color palette and that is right up my alley. I love the vibrant and bold colors in Morroccan design. It is full of intricate rugs, bright pillows, lots of silk and flowing draperies. I have posted some design pictures for inspiration.
