Homemade Face Masks For All Kind Of Skin

Our face is our fortune and most of us would be willing to work hard to preserve it and make it more beautiful. When it comes to removing dead skin cells and impurities from the face, nothing else can beat homemade face masks. Homemade face packs help in maintaining the tautness of facial skin along with deep cleansing the skin on the face and neck area. Moreover you can prepare homemade facials with items of every day use in our kitchens. So you do not get to feel the pinch of all those beauty parlor bills and at the same time get to have great skin. Facial Masks are the best to use from another angle too; our skin suffers extensively due to the repeated use of cosmetics which have harsh chemicals in them. Face packs consisting of natural ingredients on the other hand are absolutely harmless and can be used regularly.

Protect Your Skin This Summer

Protect Your Skin This Summer

This Memorial Day weekend, the Summer sun will be shining, you’ll be out in your backyard or on the beach, sipping brews and hitting the grill. But, be careful. There’s a silent killer hovering in the ether above your festivities. It’s sun damage. At the very least it’s going to make you a wrinkly old man before your time, and at the very worst it’s going to bring your ‘time’ on a lot earlier than it ought to be. Here’s some tips to keep yourself safe, handsome, and young in the sun.
Protect yourself working out

A lot of guys don’t wear sunscreen when they’re working out because their brains go into a mode where they’re doing something healthy, so nothing bad could happen to them. Staying on the lake, on the court, or on the road for an extended period of time is often worse than just sunning yourself because you’re distracted by the activity, and don’t realize how burned you’re getting.
Take a siesta

The sun is closest to the Earth’s surface, and hence, most powerful, between the hours of 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. So, take a page out of the French playbook, and take a siesta during part or all of that time. Not only will it protect your skin, but taking a break in the middle of the day has been proven to reduce your risk of heart disease. You’re going to live forever having midday quickies with your lady.
Stay out of the tanning booth

Most people use tanning booths because their jobs prevent them from soaking up the rays during the day. But some people actually consider these sizzling, skin darkeners to be safer than actually tanning in the normal sun. This is categorically false. Tanning booths will make the claim that they use ‘harmless’ UVA rays to induce a darker hue, but both UVA and UVB rays are forms of ultraviolet light, and both can cause damage to your skin, and even subdermally.
Eat dark chocolate

A recent study at the European Dermatology London clinic suggested that eating large amounts of dark chocolate can lower a person’s risk of developing skin cancer. The chocolate has to be extra dark, like you like your coffee, because that’s the stuff that is very high in flavanols. These are the antioxidants that help to combat the free radicals caused by UV damage that induce skin cancers. Nom nom nom!
Check in with your doctor

Checking in with your doctor, especially if you’ve got lighter skin and/or spend a lot of time in the sun, is key to preventing serious medical skin conditions. Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, is best treated if detected early. If doctors can catch it in Phase 1 or 2, the likelihood of removal and subsequent cure is much greater. Phase 3, however, is usually not treatable by conventional methodology.

Exercise Improves Your Brain

Exercise Improves Your Brain

Have you made a New Year's resolution to get more exercise? Whether to improve your cardiovascular health or to help with weight control, exercise is a great plan. And now there is evidence that physical exercise can also perk up our brains.

This shouldn't be a surprise. If exercise is healthy for our hearts and lungs, then why not for our brains? And if exercise can improve brain function, then it may also be beneficial for mood, cognition, and overall mental performance.

Research studies have shown that moderately intense physical activity, and especially aerobic exercise like brisk walking and running, can lead to improvements in cognitive functions like attention, reasoning, and decision making. Experiments have compared groups of people who exercised regularly with others who did not. The improvements in brain function were most dramatic in older adults, but all ages appeared to benefit from increased physical exercise.

One recent analysis looked at the combined results of 18 different studies of the possible cognitive effects of fitness training in older adults. Although the results showed gains in all types of cognitive activity among the fitness-training groups, the greatest advances were found in the exercisers' executive functioning, which controls higher-level decision making skills like planning, scheduling, multi-tasking, and dealing with ambiguity.

We need executive functioning to be able to select appropriate social behaviors and inhibit inappropriate actions. Other types of cognitive activity include reaction time, the ability to remember or interpret visual information, and lower-level decisionmaking.

Surveys also show that people who are physically active throughout their lives are less likely to experience cognitive decline later in life. And those who exercise regularly are less likely to develop Alzheimer's disease.

Some clues may explain how physical activity can help the cognitive functioning of our brains. It has been shown, for example, that fitness training can improve blood flow in the brain and increase the number of capillaries carrying the blood.

Exercise also increases levels of neurochemicals that stimulate the interconnections among neurons. And exercise may increase the size of some areas of the brain or, at least, slow their rate of decrease as we age. Many of these changes are most prominent in the brain's frontal cortex, the area most important for executive functioning.

So remember, even modest increases in physical activity can be beneficial for your brain and for the important things that organ does for you. How much exercise is enough?

That depends on your age and health, but vigorous walking for 20 to 30 minutes a few days a week is a good start. Be sure to check with your health care provider before starting a new, rigorous exercise program.

Tips - To get good sleep

Tips - To get good sleep

There’s a lot of advice out there about getting good sleep; here are tips that work for me:

Good habits for good sleep:
1. Exercise most days, even if it’s just to take a walk.
2. No caffeine after 7:00 p.m.
3. An hour before bedtime, avoid doing any kind of work that takes alert thinking. Addressing envelopes—okay. Analyzing an article—nope.
4. Adjust your bedroom temperature to be slightly chilly.
5. Keep your bedroom dark. Studies show that even the tiny light from a digital alarm clock can disrupt a sleep cycle. We have about six devices in our room that glow bright green; it’s like sleeping in a mad scientist’s lab. The Big Man's new pet, a Roomba (yes, he loves his robot vacuum), gives out so much light that I have to cover it with a pillow before bed.
6. Keep the bedroom as tidy as possible. It’s not restful to fight through chaos into bed.

If sleep won’t come:
1. Breathe deeply and slowly until you can’t stand it anymore.
2. If your mind is racing (you’re planning a trip, a move, Christmas shopping; you’re worried about a medical diagnosis), write down what’s on your mind. This technique really works for me.
3. Slather yourself with body lotion. It feels good and also, if you’re having trouble sleeping because you’re hot, it cools you down.
4. If your feet are cold, put on socks.
5. Stretch your whole body.
6. Have a warm drink. Some people claim that warm milk contains melatonin and trytophan and so helps induce sleep, but in fact, a glass of milk doesn’t contain enough to have any effect. But it’s still a soothing drink. My nighttime favorite: 1/3 mug of milk, add boiling water, one packet of Equal, and a dash of vanilla. A real nursery treat.
7. Yawn.
8. Stretch your toes up and down several times.
9. Tell yourself, “I have to get up now.” Imagine that you just hit the snooze alarm and in a minute, you’re going to be marching through the morning routine. Often this is an exhausting enough prospect to make me fall asleep.

How To Eyes Wash With Water

How To Eyes Wash With Water

One of the unfortunate things about home remedies is that they cannot be an all in one cure and it is best that you take different herbs for different symptoms. This is the basic problem with recommending herbal eyewash. Usually, a really effective eyewash is one that is tailor made to remove an offending object or substance in the eye and this largely depends on what goes into your eye in the first place. What can be prescribed is a series of rules that you can follow to remove material from your eye.

If you get a small object in your eye, the eye will naturally produce tears to flush the object out. Sometimes, however, these tears are not enough, and the eye will need some help getting the object out. If you do not have any eyewash available, plain water is the next best option. Read on to learn how to wash your eyes with water:

Things You’ll Need:

    * A large-sized bowl
    * An eye-sized cup
    * Lukewarm water
    * Towel/Paper towels

Steps:

    * Make sure the water is lukewarm, not too hot or too cold. Either too hot or too cold could harm your eyes. The bowl will need to be big enough for you to dunk your head. Once you face is in the bowl and under water, open your eyes and look from side to side and up and down.
    * The second choice is using an eye cup. An eye cup is a cup that is the size of the eye. You put water into the cup and tilt your head forward and place the cup against your eye. Then, with one smooth motion tilt your head back. Be sure to hold the cup tight against your eye. Open your eye and look from side to side and up and down.
    * And finally, do not wash your eyes out while you are bathing or showing. Instead, after or before you are done in the shower or bath you can splash distilled water in your eyes to rinse them out.

Tips:

    * Expect to get wet with any of these techniques.
    * Some drug stores sell eye washing kits that contain a good eye-sized cup and sterile washing solution.
    * To some people it is very uncomfortable to get water in the eye, since the natural eye milieu is salty. If this is the case, stir one teaspoon of salt into one liter of water until dissolved. This will give you a mildly salty solution that you can use to wash out your eyes.
    * You can also use these techniques if you think conjunctivitis is coming on.
    * Make sure you change the solution for each eye so you don’t swap possible bacteria.

Advice:

    * Do not use water that is too hot or too cold.
    * Do not overuse salt. Too much salt can cause cells to burst and feel very uncomfortable or even painful.

Clear Acne Free Skin For Life

Clear Acne Free Skin For Life

It is the cherished dream of every person to have an acne free skin. Everyone wishes to have a clear complexion which reflects a fit and fine idea of health and beauty of the person. Clear skin is not always easy to maintain. Due to increased pollution, stress, competition and time constraint, it becomes arduous to have a skin free of pimples and blemishes.

To have a clear skin, we must have the profound knowledge of basic causes of acne. Acne is caused by the germs and infection that penetrates the skin leading to acne problems. However, whatsoever the reasons may be, we should not succumb to acne. No matter, if we are already following the strict regimen diet to control acne or to have a healthy skin, chances are there to improve your complexion.

When it comes to learning how to get clear skin or finding a cure for pimples, you have to do yourself one big favor. You have to stop listening to all of the myths and lies that surround acne and start applying some real truths. Some of the lies I want to talk about are the connections between diet and acne, myths about washing your skin and I’ll talk a bit about why drug companies are so keen to make products that force us to keep purchasing every month.

How to Get Clear Acne Free Skin

    * Wash your face twice a day (no more) with warm water and a mild soap made for people with acne. Gently massage your face with circular motions. Don’t scrub. Over washing and scrubbing can cause skin to become irritated. After cleansing, the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) recommends applying an over-the-counter (no prescription needed) lotion containing benzoyl peroxide. This will decrease oil and bacteria.
    * Exercise to become acne free or clear acne? Yep. It all goes back to removing toxins from your body. Exercise improves your circulation. Better circulation helps get those nasty toxins out of your body quicker, thus reducing the chance of buildup and clogging. Ideally, you should exercise five days a week for around a half hour. This will also help reduce stress, another common acne trigger.
    * Reduce intake of sugar carbohydrates and caffine: If your diet includes a lot of caffine, chocolates or high carb drinks,a change in your diet plan will go a long way in getting you an acne clear skin.
    * Reduce the use of cosmetics as much as possible. These clog pores. If you must wear makeup, make sure that you are using hypoallergenic products, or products for sensitive skin. Splash your face with cold water before applying, and make sure you wash all the makeup away before going to bed.
    * You hear it all the time drink more water! It’s cliche, but it’s true. Water is not only good for your body, but also good for your skin. To help become acne free, it’s essential that you drink plenty of water. That means 6 to 8 glasses a day. This is one of the best natural acne treatment.
    * Avoid touching your face with your fingers or leaning your face on objects that collect sebum and skin residue like your phone. Touching your face can spread the bacteria that cause pores to become inflamed and irritated. To keep bacteria at bay, wash your hands before applying anything to your face, such as treatment creams or makeup. Aloe vera gel contains all essential nutrients form proteins to minerals and vitamins. It is exceptionally effective for skin health. You can apply its gel topically or take its juice orally.
    * Stress is bad for the skin. Just as good hormones and chemicals are produced and released when we sleep, bad hormones and chemicals are produced when we are stressed. Avoid stress as much as possible, and learn to do deep breathing exercises, or other stress reducing techniques, for those times when you are stressed.

One of the first things that you need to undertake, as a part of your bridal skin care, is a proper cleansing routine. Use a mild cleanser for your face, while having a bath in the morning, and apply a good moisturizer soon after. If, and when, you wear makeup, remove it as soon as you get back home, with the help of a proper makeup remover. Always wash your face before going to bed, at night, and follow it with the application of a good moisturizer. Last, but not the least, make use of a good exfoliating product, at least thrice a week.

Following a proper and balanced diet forms a very important part of bridal skin care. What goes inside you has a bearing on the outward appearance as well. Drink at least 8 glasses of water in a day and include lots of fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet. Having a sound sleep is also essential for a glowing skin. While you might afford to explore new brand or new type of cosmetics in the normal routine, the months prior to your wedding is certainly not the time to do so. In fact, you should stick to your regular brand for cosmetics as far as possible. Ignore the latest commercial in the television about the ‘magic concealer’ that has come in the market or the ‘new lipstick’ that makes your lips look much fuller and shinier. This is because a new product might trigger allergies on your skin, especially if the latter is too sensitive, and end up leaving spots or scars.
