Good Housekeeping
Since today is Saturday I figured I would share with you some healthy home tips as I usually do the bulk of my house cleaning today:
1. Don't forget to throw your pillows in the washer once every month to rid them of dust mites, especially if you have allergies. Toss them in the dryer with a clean set of sneaks or tennis balls to fluff while drying.
2. To whiten cotton clothing soak clothes for 30 mins prior to washing in 1 gallon of hot water 1/2 cup of dish washing detergent and 1/4 of bleach. Launder as usual and add 1/2 cup of white vinegar to final rinse.
3. To brighten colors add 1 tablespoon of vinegar to rinse OR add 1 teaspoon of Epsom salt per gallon.
4. Next time you wash your gym sneaks spray with starch afterwards to prevent them from getting so dirty next time.
5. Drinking wine/liquor for the holidays? If you should spill any on your favorite blouse sprinkle immediately with salt, soak in cold water and rub the stain out, launder as usual.
6. Have tile in your bathroom? Easy cleaning solution is white toothpaste, rub with an old toothbrush to clean the grout.
7. Clean your blender by adding a few drops of liquid dish detergent half-full with water, turn on for a few seconds and rinse thoroughly allowing it to dry upside down.
8. Smelly garbage disposal? Turn on, pour 1 cup of vinegar in then turn on cold water for a few minutes.
9. Fried fish smelling up your house? Put a whole lemon in the oven with the door ajar, turn on and allow the baking lemon aroma to cancel out the smelly fish scent.
10. Clean your microwave with a mixture of water and baking soda on a sponge.
11. Add a few drops of white vinegar to hot water to clean grease off your utensils.
12. Make your own air freshener by boiling natural ingredients on the stove. Try cinnamon sticks, lavender, rosemary, orange peels, lemon peels etc.
Have a great weekend ladies,
