Kama means sexual or sensual pleasure and Sutra means the thread that holds things together.
Today I watched one of my favorite romantic movies, Kama Sutra, A Tale of Love. The movie is not all about sexual pleasure but moreso a love story built around a servant and her finding true love. I first saw this movie back in highschool and now that I am a tender 29 I view it with more mature eyes and a deeper appreciation for it's underlying meaning. I recently took a bellydancing class and fell in love with all of the elaborate foot, hand and ear jewelry not to mention the lovely sari's and wraps for the body. Watching this movie just reminded me to go back to the dance studio for a class and to pick up the piece I spotted during my last visit.
Storyline
Tara and Maya are two inseparable friends in India. Their tastes, habits, and hobbies are the same. Years later, the two have matured, but have maintained their friendship. Tara gets married to the local prince, Raj Singh, who soon succeeds the throne as the sole heir. After the marriage, Raj gets bored of Tara and starts seeking another female to satisfy his sexual needs. He notices Maya and is instantly attracted to her. He has her included as one of his courtesans, and is intimate with her. Watch what happens when Tara finds out and the extent she will go to keep her marriage intact.Check out the movie, it is definitely a great couple's film :0)
