60 Day Fitness Challenge
So ladies our 60 Day fitness challenge is coming to a close in T minus 4 days. How have you been doing? I made great strides in the beginning with working out at least 3 days per week but lately I've been slacking BIG time smh I blame my cold ☺I haven't weighed myself in a few weeks but I feel like I may have picked up a pound or three snacking on ice cream, pizza and muy margaritas. Nevertheless it's not too late to get back on the wagon and ride that thing until the fat falls off lol I still am striving towards my fitness goals and encourage you all to do the same. I plan on hiking tomorrow morning even though I really want to sleep in.
Speaking of being FIT have you seen Halle Berry lately? This woman is 45 years old and has a better body than most 20-30 somethings. What is the secret? Let's not forget she had a baby not too long ago. What are the celebs doing that the average woman is not? Do you know, if so please share lol ♥
Are you drinking enough water?
Today I decided to detox my body. Lately I've been feeling a bit bloated and weighed down probably partially due to things like salt, sugar, my cold and the fact that I'm not drinking as much water as I should. I love water and it is super hydrating but let's be honest, margaritas taste way better! lol I have a big problem with drinking water when I'm drinking alcohol. I can down two margaritas without taking a sip of the chilled glass of water on the table and I know better. smh So with that said I'm detoxing my body by putting in more fruits, veggies and water starting today.
Water is vital in order for our bodies to function; it lubricates eyes and joints, flushes out toxins and waste, and keeps our skin healthy.
About two-thirds of our body weight is water. However, we need it all - losing just one percent of our body weight due to fluid loss can cause dehydration and any more than that can lead to serious medical complications. And remember we're constantly losing water, by sweating or urinating, so by drinking we're keeping our supplies topped up.
You've often heard that you are to drink 8 glasses of water a day but what does that really mean? We are all of a different make up so what is required for one person certainly may not satisfy another. I decided to look up how much water I need for my weight and lifestyle and this is what I found:
A person who is 135 pounds and is exercising for 60 minutes , is not pregnant, is not breastfeeding, does not live at a high altitude, lives in a dry climate, drinks 0 alcoholic drink(s) well on that day lol, when the weather is very hot or very cold, and is not sick with fever or diarrhea should have:
97.5 ounces of water today, or 2.9 liters.
So figuring that an average bottle of water is 16 ounces I would have to drink 4.2 bottles per day to satisfy my body.
If you eat a healthy diet, about 20 percent of your water may come from the foods you eat. If you eat a healthy diet you can drink 78 ounces of water today, or 2.3 liters.
Water is an obvious source for your daily fluid needs. Other good beverages include milk, herbal teas, low-sodium broth, 100% fruit and vegetable juices. Soft drinks will also count toward your daily total of fluid, just remember that sugar sweetened soft drinks and fruit juices add extra calories to you daily diet that you don't need.

#Family Fitness Challenge
Today I attended the Family Fitness challenge in support of Monica Ponder, founder of Free condoms and lollipops, at the Mighty Jumps here in Atlanta. I am such a big kid and really wanted to get on one of the bouncy things lol but I held back and decided to hula hoop instead. Boy am I lame at hula hooping lol I could hardly get it to stay up. I guess I need a bit more practice. I'm glad that I attended and definitely walked away with baby fever after spending some time in Mighty Jumps around all the cutie pie boys and girls. Mighty Jumps is a black owned indoor and open space fitness facility for young children. They have plenty of bouncy obstacle courses and even a space for birthday parties. Parents in the Atlanta area be sure to check them out, conveniently located just off 75 on Collier Road. They are also adjacent to Atlanta ROCKS! and I've been yearning to go there for years. This will definitely be one of my next fitness adventures, stay tuned.
Take part in the First Lady's, Michelle Obama, Let's Move campaign and do some exercise before the weekend is up or the world ends lol (joke).

Beach Babes
The paparazzi caught Ciara out and about on South Beach with Stoudemire. She looks absolutely amazing! I know Ciara has been hitting the gym like crazy but her muscle tone suits her well. She still looks feminine and her legs are awesome! You go Ciara!
This is just the inspiration I needed to get my butt back in gear. I haven't exercised in about a week! Time to get back on the horse and RIDE! Speaking of, check out her video Ride featuring Luda. Enjoy! "ATL Georgia, Bootys look like THIS size!"

Belly Busting Foods
As you may have heard before losing weight has more to do with what you eat than how you exercise. So with that said here are a few gut busting foods to pick up on your next grocery run.
http://www.scribd.com
Onions
Onions, similar to garlic, have minerals and oils that will help to breakdown fat deposits
and speed up your metabolism. Have raw onions every day, it has more power than
garlic and with the milder smell, it will make an excellent addition to your diet.
and speed up your metabolism. Have raw onions every day, it has more power than
garlic and with the milder smell, it will make an excellent addition to your diet.
Radishes
Radishes scrub the mucous membrane of the body because it contains high levels of
Iron and Magnesium. These minerals actually help to dissolve fat in the cells.
Tomatoes
Tomatoes have high Vitamin C and Citricmalicoxalic acids. The acid will accelerate the
metabolic process. It also helps the kidneys to release more water and helps to wash
away fat.
The natural acids with the enzyme activated minerals prompt the kidneys to filter out
large quantities of fatty deposits and then you eliminate them from your system. So add
tomatoes to your daily diet and your metabolism will thank you for it.

Apple Cider Vinegar
Use this diuretic in small quantities. You can add it to your salad as a dressing. What
makes this such a powerful diuretic is this: It is made from apples and the malic acid in
apples will create a fat burning process. Another factor with this vinegar is the
fermentation process causes the vinegar to have constructive acids that join with
alkaline elements and minerals in the body. This produces a cell scrubbing effect.

It also contains high levels of potassium, which has an antisceptic quality to that helps to
eliminate fat deposits.
Garlic
Garlic has mustard oils and these oils create a cleansing action in the body. They promote a vigorous action of peristalsis, which is muscular contraction, and this will loosen fat and help wash out fats. They can also breakdown clumps of fat. So eat garlic and thin down.
Cucumber
Cucumber contains a high sulphur and silcon content. These minerals work to stimulate
the kidneys to wash out uric acid, which is a waste product. With this uric acid being
washed out, it stimulates the removal of fat, and loosens the fat from the cells.

A few things that I incorporate for my personal weight loss management is drinking Green Tea. Green tea is purported to have numerous antioxidants and help with weight loss by stimulating your metabolism. I recommend you drinking 2 cups per day without any sugar.
Cinnamon is also slated to be an appetite suppressant so if you need one, try a couple teaspoons added to your meals and drinks.
Whole wheat fibers can get your bowels moving in the right direction. I personally like the cereal Grapenuts with Soy milk ☺
Another great additive to your breakfast foods are dairy products. Fat free dairy contains high percentages of calcium; which has been shown to aid in weight loss. Try a fat free yogurt for size.
Hot Chilies also help you lose weight because of their heat source it speeds up your metabolism. Start with a low heat chili like a jalapeno and work your way up if you like a spicy kick!
Since the Spring and Summer seasons are great for growing you may even consider growing a few herbs, veggies and spices to include cucumbers, chili peppers, tomatoes and garlic in your own back yard. I started a veggie garden a few weekends ago and planted tomatoes, cilantro and a few peppers. ♥
Fat has been our 'friend' for many years and it does serve a purpose so don't think you have to be stick skinny. Fat serves some basic human functions. It serves as a back-up storehouse of energy, as well as insulation from cold and protection for organs. This is probably why women tend to store more abdominal fat because we have the responsibility of birthing children and would need the womb to be well protected and insulated against cold. Just be sure not to let your few vanity pounds become a health risk for you. To avoid this you should incorporate exercise at least 30 minutes per day.
What exercises do you plan to incorporate in your weekend agenda ladies?

Healthy YOU
My Butt is Big & that's just fine
Here is another one of the Nike women ads shared by my friend on Facebook. This is circa 2005 yet is still quite relevant today. I love the statements "It's a space heater and my ambassador for those that walk behind me!" lol That is so cute! I think the notion of embracing your curves is one that relates to many women who before were trying to be high school skinny. I actually drive past a large billboard encouraging women to be high school skinny in Buckhead everyday and roll my eyes EVERYDAY. Why not promote overall health and stop making people revert back to adolescence. I'm all about healthy lifestyles "Love for Self, Love for Health ™" that's my motto.
BUT you know what burns me up about this entire body image phenomenon, the people who are uncomfortable with themselves and in turn try to make you uncomfortable with yourself. Why is it that those who are overweight and/or obese make comments like "Nobody wants to hold on to a bean pole!" This sends the message to those who are naturally thin that they are not attractive and so the cycle continues. Keep your opinions to yourself, you can't possibly know what EVERY man or woman wants. Just say YOU don't want to hold onto a beanpole and prefer your woman or man with more meat on their bones and leave it at that.
The same principle goes for those who are naturally thin and always referring to those who are larger in size as cows, pigs, sloppy etc There are plus sized people who are healthier than some of those slimmer ones out there throwing stones. Did you know that one of the most glorified women for her beauty is diabetic? Yes Halle Berry has Type 2 diabetes so that just goes to show you that you can be slim and still suffer from being unhealthy. Read here about her battle with diabetes. "None of my family had suffered from the illness and although I was slightly overweight in school, I thought I was pretty healthy." says Halle. Another slim celeb, Monica, suffers from high blood pressure. Read here about her battle. I'm changing my eating patterns. " I was addicted to Lawry's Seasoning Salt on my soul food - addicted to Old Bay seasoning. That stuff was killing me slowly. I ain't even been around long enough yet!"says Monica.
So you see, my message today is to be HEALTHY no matter what size you are. Eating healthy foods, exercising often and drinking ample water should be a regimen that everyone follows, it's not just for the vain, tree huggers and beanpoles of the world ♥

The Health Battle ~ Case Mind v. Body
Last night we watched yet again another documentary surrounding the battle of weight loss. The film touched on the notion of why it is so hard for some people to lose weight. This topic of conversation is quite intriguing to me because for years now experts still have not been able to come up with a 'solution' to the psychological triggers that keep people fat.
Let me first point out for those who are new readers that I too overcame the battle to lose weight, now while I was not obese, losing is losing correct? Here I am at my heaviest weighing 155 lbs. I actually was on the Kolb Farm when this picture was taken doing my usual love of walking through the wilderness but look how chubby I was then. My stomach was overflowing, love handles and muffin top galore, my face looks swollen, probably from salt and sugar intake and I just didn't feel like myself. After I looked at myself in this very picture I knew I had to get back in shape.
Now after many miles of running, changing my diet, drinking more water and green tea in addition to being conscious about my over all health I dropped 20 lbs and I'm still working on the last 5 or so. I never realized how quickly you can add weight to your frame just living day in and day out as usual. What I attribute to my weight gain was frequent trips out to lunch with co-workers opposed to brown bagging, not drinking enough water, not pushing myself during exercise and only doing the bare minimum when I did work out, picking up candy at the office candy bowl every time I passed it, consuming foods with high fructose corn syrup, heavy whipping cream, lots of butter, sugar, loaded potato's and lastly eating white breads, sugars and pasta. Now I am down to 135 and subtracting. ☺ I look better, feel better, run faster and I am never going back to that woman in the above picture again.
A woman featured in the film really touched my heart when she explained that one day she found herself crying in her car and feeling sorry for herself because she was lonely and overweight. A couple of guys walked by and started making fun of her, one exclaiming "Oh she is just crying because she's fat!" Now while this hurt her feelings, it was in fact true, she was unhappy being overweight and now she is half her previous body weight, works out everyday for 3 hours and watches what she eats.
Let's also point out for some, the psychological triggers are a bigger issue than the food itself. People eat to pacify their true hurts whether it be loneliness, a loss love, unhappy on the job, unhappy at home etc. In order to lose the weight AND keep it off the person must first deal with why they are overeating. Truth be told when a person loses weight, they don't actually lose fat, it doesn't disappear, instead the fat cells simply shrink. Therefore if you are not taking care of the root of your issue those cells are simply there awaiting your next emotional episode/breakdown to grow in size again. Surely there are those that are 'predisposed' to obesity and ailments like diabetes thanks to their genes, but I am of the school of thought that we as a human race can erradicate some of these diseases if each person made a change today. So for example although I was born to a mother and maternal lineage with a rampant past of diabetics I can start living a healthy lifestyle and teach my children to do the same. If they never engaged in an unhealthy lifestyle and then birthed children who lived the same way and so on, over time the families genetic predispostion would change and/or lessen. This is how humans were able to breed in or out certain characteristics and traits they wanted in a particular dog species. It's the same principle. Now while I'm no scientist this just makes sense to me but you may beg to differ.
Interestingly enough there are those people that are traditionally overweight, visually speaking, yet by the doctors standard they are healthy. You can have person A who works out everyday, eats healthy foods and will still end up dying from something like cancer. Then you have person B who eats unhealthy foods, is overweight yet will live a long life disease free. So what gives? It's not as simple as eat right to live long now is it?
I am also aware that there are a lot of environmental factors that play into why American's are so overweight namely steroids and pesticides in foods, ample fast food chains, inexpensive extra large value meals, cut backs on children's physical extracurricular activities, parents having to work multiple jobs, underemployment, unemployment, savvy advertisements, genetics, clever marketing schemes such as mood lighting, music and attractive person in the food ads also selling sex.
Can weight loss really be an issue of mind over matter? I think so, what about you?

Eating Good in the Neighborhood?
We have all heard the term 'eating good'. Rappers use it to showboat and tell the world that since they are eating steaks at Ruth's Chris they are 'eating good', people will often say once a person makes it big and is rolling in dough, they gain a little weight because they are 'eating good' but this couldn't be farther from the truth. When you eat 'GOOD' you look good too and that excludes a gut. ☺
We think fast food is equivalent to pornography, nutritionally speaking. ~Steve Elbert
It is a shame in our society that we have to push campaigns about getting off your ass and 'Let's Move' because not only are the adults obese they are shoveling fast food down their children's throats by the pound too. What happened to running outside, playing kickball, jumping double dutch and playing Manhunt? Parents don't go to the gym and their kids don't lift a finger either. Both end up having high cholesterol and diabetes just to name a few and with that said we look around and try to find someone to point the finger at because surely it can't be 'ourselves' that got us in this predicament. Right? Wrong!
I came across the picture below of a life sized barbie created by Galia Slayen’s as a push to bring awareness to the societal influence on eating disorders. This model was made for the 'Get Real' campaign to teach young women that being 'stick' skinny is NOT healthy or mainstream. The Barbie is dressed with a size 00 skirt, previously owned by Slayen, during her bout with an eating disorder. The Barbie stands about 6 feet tall with a 39" bust, 18" waist and 33" hips. GET REAL is right, who in the heck has an 18" waist in their adulthood? Don't worry I'll wait (in my Kat Williams voice).
“I’m not blaming Barbie [for my illness] — she’s one small factor, an environmental factor,” Slayen said. “I’m blond and blue-eyed and I figured that was what I was supposed to look like. She was my idol. It impacted the way I looked at myself.” says Slayen
Seeing things like this just enrages me to the fullest. I don't put the full blame on the media & modeling agencies for that matter, for promoting their so called ideal beauties because at the same token while there are some women who are literally starving themselves to have an 18 inch waist, there are others gorging on fatty foods to have a booty like Kim Kardashian and getting Type 2 diabetes to boot. Sure I did have my years of wanting to be bootylicious like Beyonce', although truth be told she is hippy not bootylicious but I digress, but will she be there with me in dialysis once it is all said and done and I have my booty by the ton? Nope! So I changed my attitude about health and what my idea of beauty means. Running miles on end actually gave me the thunder thighs I've been yearning for and you know what I didn't have to eat Big Mac's everyday to get them either. ☺
I just wish people would take onus for their health, it is your body, you buy your own food and have 3 choices a day as to what you will ingest. Yes I do know that in some low income neighborhoods there are plenty of shoddy grocers. There are also plenty of vacant lots that folks could cultivate to grow healthy foods. Giving the kids something to do and feel proud of would make the community green as well as aesthetically pleasing. Gardens are always beautiful. How did blacks go from cultivating the land as slaves, to being raised on farms, to being obese from eating fast foods and not having access to basic necessities?
How can low-income folks fight against spiraling obesity and diabetes rates if they can not access the food they need to live a healthy life? What are your thoughts?
In closing, eating good means eating the proper nutritional foods your body needs to have energy and function throughout the day. People who eat good have amazingly clear skin, their eyes are bright, hair has luster, are in shape , look healthy and have energy overall. Make it your mission to try all the veggies and fruits in the grocer. You never know what you 'don't like' until you try them and just because you mother never fixed it growing up doesn't mean you shouldn't eat them. Give yourself a few bucks a month in your grocery budget to try a new fruit and veggie. In a years time you will have a whole new outlook on food ♥
A few uncommonly eaten vegetables you should try are:
Arugula
Brussell sprouts
Chard
Kale
Sea beet
Watercress
Chickpeas
Lentil
Leek
Okra
Aspharagus
Scallion
Shallot
Parsnip
A few uncommonly eaten fruits you should try are:
Asian Pear
Avocado
Artichoke
Tinda
Squash
Winter melon

Today I mustered up the strength to go for a run on the farm with Juicy. It was such a nice day out and much less windy and cool than it was last night. I've been slacking off this past week due to not wanting to irritate my new tattoo but I'm back on it. Although this afternoon I did down a large glass of Kahlua and I'm certain my abs will thank me later for that one. It is hard to stick to a strict regimen of baked, grilled and raw foods in an effort to living a healthier lifestyle. Every now and again you want to treat yourself and by all means you should. Yesterday I treated myself to 5 sour watermelon strips. Those jammies are SO good. I love candy!
Just when I think I'm falling off the wagon and heading back to the land of fluff lol I look online for visual inspirations of fit women, particularly women of color. Here are a few I found inspiring today. Enjoy!
I want to be able to wear a midriff shirt this summer, maybe not exposing my entire belly like hers but one of those cropped shirts will do.
I like how her stomach is toned but not ripped like a man's,
that is what I'm aiming for.
She has great muscle tone in her legs!
Let's Move
Yesterday I read about Beyonce' teaming up with The First Lady, Michelle Obama, in an effort to get the country moving, grooving and on the road to physical fitness on one of my favorite health websites http://www.freecondomsandlollipops.com.
Be sure to stop on by and pay Monica Lindsey a visit. This is a new, hip and fresh approach to health, wellness and tons of awesome information on how to live a better life.

We Run this Town
So yesterday I was supposed to attend my circus fitness class but because I had a LONG and stressful day at work and just wanted to go home, I skipped it. Anyways after stuffing my face with my homemade mac and cheese with a little salad sprinkled on the side lol I started feeling apologetic to my abs lol and took my ass to the farm for a short run. It was about 7:30 PM when I left the house and although the sunset looked so pretty I knew I did not want to be out in those woods in the dark. When I pulled up to the parking lot I saw about 4 deer grazing the farm and feeding on the grass. Awww I thought how cute. I decided not to do the 5.6 mile trail but a shorter one in lieu of just burning a few calories and making a conservative effort. Truthfully I had a gut full of cheese and pasta so there was NO way I would be able to run that long of a distance before the sun set.
After normal hours on the farm the air is quiet and still, just you and the trees, no one else around. I didn't feel eerie at first because there were about 6 other cars in the lot but I guess we were all on different trails because I only saw one other man other there. I was almost on the home stretch and upon coming over the hill I ran into about 10 deer with a huge male sporting large antlers to boot. He kept eyeing me as if to protect his females. I slowed my run to a sad and nervous jog thinking "Hey Mr deer I mean NO harm, just passing through OK no need to charge lol" smh What if they tried to attack me? What on Earth would I do? I had no phone and nothing but my dukes to defend myself smh I would have been stuck up in a tree until my fiance' came to look for me lol I need to start carrying some type of weapon for self defense, if not from animals, most certainly from any creeps that may be lurking. So that was the highlight and fright of my day lol I braved the woods all because I ate that dang on mac n cheese smh For the love of food!
If I had to be stuck on an island with nothing else to eat at all I would choose CHEESE, what about you? lol
Lovely Ladies getting FIT
Hi gals so as promised here is the debut of the 60 day Fitness challenge contestants. I hoped there would be more people to enter but I am pleased to have these lovelies up for the challenge. I think it would be good for you to take pictures of yourself every 10 days as a marker to keep for your personal journey as well as writing down what you're eating & doing for exercise so you can keep yourself on track. Good luck to you ladies, I'm routing for you both! ;0)

(This is me and I'm not competing for the prize)
I want to add more weight to my lower region and tighten up my tummy!
X Shape
The X Frame, nearly perfect, but always room for improvement. If you have an X shape your figure approaches the hourglass shape with your upper body and lower body in equal proportion, tied together by a small waistline. If you already have these classic proportions but are trying to trim down either the top or bottom these exercises can work for you. The right diet and work out regimen can get you where you want to be.
If you need to knock off fat pounds, keep your rest periods between sets very brief (like 30 seconds or less) and add an extra set or two to each exercise. Try to perform an aerobic exercise five times a week of 30 to 40 minutes each session. Doing aerobics before breakfast as well as after your weight training session will help to accelerate the fat burning process. The book also suggests walking, jogging or running, dance or any high tech exercise options.
The following are the exercises to achieve an X shape:
Monday/Wed/Friday
1. Medium Stance Hack Squat
2. Dumbell Side lunge
3. Hip/Hamstring Curl
4. Machine Bench Press
5. Chest Circle Machine
6. One arm at a time dumbbell press
7. Front lateral raise
8. Negative Chin up
9. Dumbell Pullover
10. Pulley Crunch

If you need to knock off fat pounds, keep your rest periods between sets very brief (like 30 seconds or less) and add an extra set or two to each exercise. Try to perform an aerobic exercise five times a week of 30 to 40 minutes each session. Doing aerobics before breakfast as well as after your weight training session will help to accelerate the fat burning process. The book also suggests walking, jogging or running, dance or any high tech exercise options.
The following are the exercises to achieve an X shape:
Monday/Wed/Friday
1. Medium Stance Hack Squat
2. Dumbell Side lunge
3. Hip/Hamstring Curl
4. Machine Bench Press
5. Chest Circle Machine
6. One arm at a time dumbbell press
7. Front lateral raise
8. Negative Chin up
9. Dumbell Pullover
10. Pulley Crunch
11. Lying Dumbell Curl
12. Dumbbell Kickback

Is your Ideal Body Realistic?
Tying to the previous post on women wanting to be bootylicious over healthy, I came across an article on Mediatakeout.com boasting about an NY video model with a 'banging body.' This is her below:
Now this girl does have banging body, tight stomach and curves galore but should all women aspire to that body type? Absolutely NOT! Firstly although we can all achieve our desired body type through shape training, if God didn't give you a dunk like that, chances are weights won't either, they will certainly help curve and tone what you have but you'd have to consume a whole lot of protein and carbs to drag a wagon like that lol. I am wondering if it's pics like this that make women think all men want us to look that way? Do all women want a uber chiseled man? idk
Today I tasked myself with getting back on my healthy eating kick since I snuck in a few chick fil a sandwiches last week and a couple Laffy Taffy candies over the weekend. After work I headed to the farm with my Yorkie, Juicy, and managed to run 2 miles before tiring, after which I ran stopped and walked then ran some more until I was back to my car. Whew! I can't wait to get rid of this fluff hanging from my tummy. I feel like I could run much further and feel much lighter when it is all gone. While I'm out there on the farm I envision my ideal body type and that helps to push me further, that and not wanting to feel like a chump when a 65 year old looking woman whizzes by without hesitation lol
My ideal body type is an X shape, curvy and healthy ;0) What's yours?
Just to clarify here is an image of what women v. men think of ideal bodies.
Bootylicious over being Healthy
I've often heard from black women various excuses as to why they choose to skip exercising ranging from not wanting to sweat out their perms to men liking women with jiggly booties and to that I say "Chile Please!" I'm often perplexed by a woman raving about how 'ALL black men' like their women to have a rump shaker. Firstly I'm wondering how does she know what ALL men like and why are you concerning yourself with what ALL men like? Shape your body how YOU want it to look and a man who likes that will love you for you. It saddens me to hear that black women don't want to shape up, lose weight and be healthy all in an effort to appeal to men.
You can work out hard, eat healthy foods and STILL keep your curves and NO you don't have to compare yourself to the likes of celebs with a nutritionist, trainer and chef on deck. You can be your own nutritionist, personal trainer and chef extraordinaire, it just takes a little discipline and determination.
One of my favorite methods of exercise is running. You may not be able to run an 8 minute mile just yet but walking at a brisk pace for miles will definitely help get you there. Try teaming up with a girlfriend or take your dog with you for company.
Join a walking group like, Girl Trek:
A super fun and effective way to tone your abs and correct posture is through hula hooping. Grab a bright colored hoop, take it to the park and get to twirling girlfriend!
So you think you can dance? Well why not? Dancing is a great method of exercising, even if you don't have any rhythm! Pole Dance much? ♥
If going to the gym is not your thing, try intense rounds of circuit training at home. I love to watch Zuzana from Body Rock TV on Youtube. She is awesome!
You can also hike to greater heights to burn off calories and tone your entire body. If you don't live near a mountain try hiking up a steep hill for exercise.
As a last resort to shedding pounds quickly or detoxifying your body you can try a cleanse. Beyonce' appeared on Oprah mentioning that she turned to the Master Cleanse, a liquid diet, to help her shed pounds fast. According to research, the "Master Cleanse" is a liquid diet that purports to cleanse and detoxify the body while reportedly stimulating healthy tissue growth. Also known as the "Master Cleanse Lemonade Fast," the "Lemonade Diet," or the "Lemonade Fast," the liquid diet fast was popularized by a book named The Master Cleanse by Stanley Burroughs. Though Beyonce said that she also ate vegetables during the 14 days that she followed the diet fast, the Master Cleanse fast has been described as consisting of "a concoction of fresh lime or lemon juice, maple syrup, and cayenne pepper mixed with water," that is consumed 6 - 12 times a day, along with an "herbal laxative tea... taken twice a day, and no other food is consumed." "I was cranky," Beyonce admitted to Oprah about her emotional state while on the Master Cleanse diet fast.
On your Mark, Get Set, Go!
Happy Friday Lovelies and today is the start of my 60 Day Fitness Challenge. Be sure to join us on the journey over 60 days to greater fitness heights. All entries must be submitted today by 11:59 PM EST to be considered valid.
I want us all to start together and end victoriously!
The fitness challenge will last for 60 days or roughly two months starting April 01 through May 31st, just in time for that Memorial Day barbecue. The rules are simple.
*Open to BLOG FOLLOWERS ONLY* Follow the blog to join the challenge.
1. Take a before picture of yourself (head on) and send it to me at lipstickmanual@gmail.com on April 1st. Put Fitness Challenge in the subject line.
*No sucking in your tummy or photoshop either lol let's make this a fair challenge*
2. Challenge yourself to work out at least 4 days per week by any means necessary.
*I will be running, hiking or lifting weights to sculpt my desired X shape*
3. On June 1st submit your after picture of yourself (head on).
*Try to wear athletic gear or something like leggings and a closely fitting top so that we can see what you're working with, don't be shy, we are all in this together*
I will post the before and after pictures of all the participants in a blog post and we will vote on the winner, being the person who has the most dramatic improvement. We should be able to see if you've lost inches and weight by the picture so take a close enough shot of your body.
I don't wish to compare pounds, inches or body fat specifically as that will be way too technical and difficult for everyone's body, shape & height etc. Plus you can't verify those things; however a picture always tells the truth.
The winner with the most votes shall receive a 60 minute massage certificate courtesy of Lipstick Manual to reward the lovely for all that hard work.
Invite a friend to participate, follow the blog and join in on the challenge. ;0)
I will be posting a weekly fitness blog on healthy foods & exercise moves as an open forum for those participating to share what's working for them and celebrate successes. Taking baby steps and celebrating your achievements will help you reach that milestone on May 31st so be sure to tune in and share your stories.
Are you game?
