Thrift Haul

OMG today after hiking on Kennesaw Mtn, since it was nice weather out, I decided to swing by my favorite thrift store on Cobb parkway. First I browsed the toss pillows section then on to blazers pass pass the next aisle I browsed was the long and short sleeve dresses and looky here. It was amongst the last of the bunch a vintage YSL 100% silk dress with pockets. I almost died and went to heaven. I couldn't believe it so I was like OK what other treasures await me. I looked for a cute chair I've been eyeing but someone bought it then I came across this Kasper blazer I liked a few months ago. It will go cute as an over coat or something since it is a size 10. There are so many nice things there. I love thrifting!

Check out pics of my digs ;0)

Lenox Park

Jason and I ventured to Lenox Park the other day. It is located in the midst of all the hustle and bustle of Buckhead and yet still so serene. There are walking trails, a large lake accented by a huge fountain, a quaint bridge, boulders and even a crane about the size of me! I was startled when I saw it walking around like a 5 foot person, that thing is huge! I enjoyed sitting on the bench while watching the ducks quack by and even the photoshoot of an infant frolicking in the Fall leaves. ;0) It is a very romantic place and highly recommended by moi. I wore my bomber leather that I distressed myself using bleach and a Qtip on the seams and elbows topped with metallic paint, along with my thrifted green 'Grandma' dress lol

The Joy of Thrift Shopping!

Thrifting is such a great way to find vintage pieces and new attire alike. Many stores carry great jewelry, shoes, furniture, kids clothing, books, and cookware; however if you are not a scavenger shopper who loves browsing from aisle to aisle this may not be the shopping technique for you. The one thing I do loathe about thrift stores is the sometimes overwhelming stench which is an accumulation of everyone's household and body odors jam packed into one store. Whew! I recently visited the Goodwill on Roswell road as well as a Union Mission store in Cobb county and I can't wait to go back as I was pressed for time. I tried on a vintage sequence dress that was to die for but unfortunately not my size. I did score a pair of barely used Kenneth Cole ankle boots though and they only put me back 3 bucks ;0)

Do you shop at thrift stores? Why or why not?

Oh so RETRO

Remember the old rotary phones? You probably had one as your house phone back in the days when people actually had house phones lol. Now in this modern day everything is wireless and people are able to get in contact with you 24/7 thanks to the invention of the cellphone. I found this picture of an antique rotary phone on the web. I would love to have one of these as a keepsake for house decor. This picture actually inspires me to want to remodel my masterbedroom in a romantic old hollywood style. I think might grab a paint bucket and get to work during this long holiday weekend. The perfect touch would be a crystal chandelier.

Vintage Vintage Everywhere

So lately thanks to my newest fashion inspiration, Nikole, author of TheMopTopMaven blog, I've been completely obsessing over the vintage look of fashion. I have always adored the classic look of fashion modeled by the likes of Elizabeth Taylor's hairstyles, Audrey Hepburns sense of style , and probably the most timeless era of fashion The 1950's. This era birthed full floral swing skirts & dresses, kick pleats, sundresses and of course my most cherished piece of fashion, peep toe SHOES. I think I have officially adopted this style as my new look.

The above pictures are courtesy of ModCloth, a clothing site geared towards vintage fashion. I purchased a floral sweetheart dress from them last year for a wedding and I just love that dress! They even have real vintage pieces posted daily but they sell quickly so if that's your thing you should definitely check them out, you just might score big!

Oh and I'm dying to go to the LF warehouse in Soho during my next visit to NYC. I need to go up there soon to visit the family, it's been awhile plus I want to see the newest bundle of joy, my nephew Bryson.
