Fashion Fastfoward

Today while working out with Dearroka, we discussed the shape of women today and yesterday since we started our Shape Training. Women back in the 1770's wore corset's to correct posture and more aesthetically important, to appear to have the perfect hourglass figure. Nowadays women spend hours in pilates, doing 1000's of crunches or even go under the knife for THE perfect figure. Back in yesteryear, the corset was an essential undergarment for Victorian women.  The corset developed from 18th century stays, a foundation garment that gave women a conical form while lifting and supporting the bosom, in addition to, producing a rigidly flat front.

The 19th century corset remained basically similar to the earlier stays in that it accentuated the bosom; but the Victorian corset also minimized the waist by producing a curved hour-glass shape.

The corset laced up the center-back to achieve the correct degree of tightness to fit the wearer’s figure, thus the term “tight lacing.”  There were hooks and eyes at the center front for easier removal.
The corset was worn over a cotton chemise and not directly next to the skin. Corsets were worn by women, young girls and children. Children wore corsets to learn correct posture.  Corsets came in a variety of colors, including white, black, charcoal gray, cream, and even red.

In 2010 women opt to wear Body Magic or even shape wear like Spanx and Squeem lingerie. You can even get Spanx to minimize your natural pregnancy belly and the booty/thighs that come with it! smh My question is were women smaller back then or did they just eat less than women do today? If children were wearing corsets I'm sure the notion of 'perfect beauty' was an ideal early instilled into their little brains, especially the girls. Do you think you would have stayed the course of fitness if you were encouraged to wear correcting shape wear like a corset during your younger years? I've seen plenty of women today trying to achieve the optical illusion of wearing a thick belt across their midsection thinking this minimizes their bulge but contrary to popular belief if you have a real gut, it simply draws the eyes attention directly to it.

I suppose my conclusion is, with all things considered maintaining a healthy active lifestyle and eating the proper diet is the best way to achieve your desired results.
