The Naked Truth

The truth is most of us are our own worst critics when it comes to body image. We see a beautiful woman and think to ourselves, operative word here, "She is bad!" or "She looks great!" instead of verbalizing it out loud to the woman we admire and then follow that thought up with the 'but' blah blah blah (her shoes are cheap) just to make ourselves feel a little better.

It is time we celebrate the beauty in each other. This is what the Pretty Girl Rock Dress challenge has encouraged me to do. Each day women from all walks of life post pictures of themselves proudly on Facebook and even more women chime in with compliments. I think it is very empowering that we are practicing this art form of communicating positive and kind words to each other.

Feeling great about how you look first comes from within. It is very easy to blame our parents and upbringing for one having a low self esteem but after you've moved out, have lived on your own,  let others you've chosen into your life the onus falls on you. As they say Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Not every woman is made the same and thank God for that! We have so many diverse types of beauty and there is a man that loves each and every one of them.

So without further adu I wanted to share some naked truths with you all. Not every woman is a size 4 or "super model" status (whatever that means) but every woman is beautiful in her own way ;0) Get comfortable with your beauty and own it, how else can you expect another to love you unless you love yourself first.

I tried to capture beauty in a diverse group of healthy black women owning their sexuality. Enjoy ;0)
