Well as you know it's Black History month, February, the shortest calendar month of the year. *side eye* I decided to use this month to post pictures and information of black, brown and yellow lol women of our history. Enjoy!









 An African American singer, Marian Anderson found more success and fame in Europe than America until in 1939 the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) refused to allow her to sing in their Constitution Hall in Washington, DC. In part because of the public attention brought by this incident, Marian Anderson became one of the best-known African American women of the 20th century. 




Lil Hardin Armstrong

Occupation: jazz musician, pianist, composer, singer, band leader, manager and promoter; later, clothes designer, restaurant owner, piano teacher, French teacher

Known for: first major woman jazz instrumentalist; part of King Oliver's Creole Jazz Band; marriage to Louis Armstrong and promoter of his career; part of Louis Armstrong's Hot Fives and Hot Sevens recordings.
